However, when you next go for a run or start training the likelihood is that your shin splints will return and with that the treatments will start over again, this is not a good place to be and this situation has actually forced many people to give up what they love!

I had personally suffered with shin splints for years and like so many others I went through the endless cycle of running and then using traditional treatments to calm down the splints. Your body is specifically designed, thanks mainly due to your central nervous system, to alert you that there is a problem (pain), ignoring this alert will make the problem become more severe or occur more frequently.
Once you realize that there is more to treating shin splints other than just getting rid of shin pain, the sooner you will never have to face that pain again!
There are many different underlying causes and once you start investigating you may find you have flat feet, tight calves or maybe even weak glutes as is the scope of possible issues that cause shin splints…the thing is, without investigation you will never know what is causing your shin splints and will therefore never truly know how to get rid of your shin splints.
Once you have found the underlying cause of your shin splints and then combine effective pain management with SPECIFIC exercises and treatment strategies that address that specific cause the results will be nothing short of amazing as you will quickly realize when you run or train next time.
There again, if you decide to carry on as before and don’t try to find and treat the root cause then you should prepare yourself for another bout of icing etc…!
